Wiltshire Learning Event for Secondary Schools
Contextual Safeguarding Masterclass for Schools
Date: 4 July 2019
Time: 9.30 – 12.30
Location: Devizes Town Hall, St John’s Street, Devizes, SN10 1BN
Contextual Safeguarding was been developed at the University of Bedfordshire to inform policy and practice approaches to safeguarding adolescents. It is an approach to understanding, and responding to, young people’s experiences of significant harm beyond their families – so addresses issues such as gangs, knife crime and County Lines. It recognises that the different relationships that young people form in their neighbourhoods, schools and online can also feature violence and abuse.
Wiltshire are one of a small number of areas selected to be a development site for contextual safeguarding. We will be working on scale up project with the University of Bedfordshire to create an operational Contextual Safeguarding system in Wiltshire. Working with and supporting schools will be essential if we are to make this work.
The session on 4 July will be a chance to find out more and ask questions. It will be run by the University of Bedfordshire team.
We are asking if you will join us for this session to help us work together to make a difference in Wiltshire.
If you are interested in attending please email WSCBTraining@wiltshire.gov.uk and we will be in touch to confirm your place – we will try and accommodate as many people as possible. There is no charge for attendance.
